Clickbait

 A term often used in journalism, but it isn’t exclusive to the news industry. Clickbait is  when the headline of a news story uses deceptive or sensational language to get a reader to click on the story. Some businesses use misleading headlines or thumbnails to drive people to their online content. The main purpose of a clickbait headline or content is to attract attention and encourage visitors to click on a link to a particular web page or story.
